2026 U.S. Marine Corps Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals & Boys National Recruiting Showcase. Registration and the hotel block are open. The flash price has passed — book rooms by Sunday Sep 27 and register by Tuesday Sep 29 to hold the $75 rate.
The flash window closed Sep 9. Registration now costs $75 with a hotel code or $85 without, and that holds until Tuesday Sep 29 at 7:00 PM Georgia time. After that it is $95 for everyone until Oct 14, then $130.
The wiring hasn't changed. Your hotel reservation number is still the registration discount code, and it still takes 48 hours to activate. Rooms booked by Sunday Sep 27 have a live code on Tuesday. Rooms booked Monday don't.
Re-verified Sep 14 against USA Wrestling, EventConnect, Google Flights and Enterprise. Registration prices are unchanged. What moved is the hotel inventory, the Saturday airfare, the van rate, and the weigh-in schedule for the youngest kids — all covered below.
The order is fixed and there's no way around it:
What you don't do is miss Sep 29. The next tier is $95 for everyone, and the near-venue inventory is thinner than it was two weeks ago — The Rewind is sold out and the Hampton is request-only now.
Registering early stays painless: USA Wrestling doesn't charge to change weight classes, even at weigh-ins. Nobody needs to know their weight to sign up.
All deadlines are Mountain Time. Georgia is two hours ahead — the Eastern time is what matters to your families. Register at usabracketing.com, but only after the hotel code is active.

Every purchase is non-refundable — entries, coach passes, tickets. If a kid gets hurt in October, that money is gone. Say that out loud to parents before they pay.
No photo on the membership profile means no custom credential. The upload deadline is Oct 9 at 1:00 PM MT — 3:00 PM ET, and it's separate from registration, so it will absolutely get missed unless someone chases it.
Worth pairing with the membership renewals that are already outstanding.
These are the hard limits. USA Wrestling raised every cap between Sep 6 and Sep 14 — the youngest combined division went from 250 to 375 — but the smallest ones still fill first.
| Division | Cap |
|---|---|
| 9th–10th Grade Boys | 1,020 |
| 11th–12th Grade Boys | 1,005 |
| 7th–8th Grade Boys | 695 |

| 5th–6th Boys + 3rd–4th Boys + 6th–8th Girls | 1,085 combined |
| 1st–2nd Boys + 1st–2nd Girls + 3rd–5th Girls | 375 combined |
| HS Boys Recruiting Showcase | 435 · prequalified only |
The Showcase is not open entry — a wrestler needs a state title (any year), a state placement from 25–26, a National Prep title, USAW All-American 1st–8th, a U15 or U17 national placement while in high school, or an NHSCA Virginia Beach placement. Anyone who doesn't qualify enters 9th–10th or 11th–12th instead.
This is the part that decides everything else. The divisions do not travel together — weigh-ins are spread across four different evenings, and a first-grader and a senior have almost nothing in common on this schedule.
Credential pickup opens 30–90 minutes before each weigh-in window and is required first.

The schedule moved since Sep 6. The Thursday and Friday weigh-ins now run 7:00–8:00 PM instead of 7:30–8:30, and the youngest divisions moved from Saturday night to Saturday early afternoon — 1:00 PM for 1st–2nd graders and 3rd–5th girls, 1:30 PM for 3rd–4th boys and 6th–8th girls, with credential pickup from 12:30. That changes wave 4's flight, below.
One exception worth knowing: 11th–12th grade boys who can't make the Wednesday night weigh-in get a second window Thursday morning, 9:30–10:00 AM. That's the only make-up weigh-in on the schedule.
USA Wrestling notes the schedule is subject to change — re-check it in October before anyone books a return flight around a finals time.
These waves are the cheapest version, not the required one. Each shows the latest a kid can arrive and the earliest they can leave — the schedule's hard edges. Everything between is your call.
Who actually goes on which day comes down to which parents and volunteers can travel, and plenty of families will want to come earlier or stay later to watch siblings and teammates. That costs nothing in airfare — a Wednesday-to-Sunday ticket is $419, the same as Wednesday-to-Saturday. Extra hotel nights are the only difference, and at four to a room that's $32 to $39 a night.
So treat the waves as the planning floor. Build the actual roster around who can chaperone.
Out Wed Oct 28 · home Fri night or Sat AM · 2–3 nights
Must be at the venue by 7:00 PM Wednesday. Take a morning or midday flight — the 4:59 PM out of Atlanta lands at 6:09 PM and leaves you sprinting for an 8:00 PM cutoff. They're done Friday at 5:30 PM, so a Saturday morning flight home is the calm option.
Out Thu Oct 29 · home Sat evening or Sun · 2–3 nights
Weigh-in is 7:00 PM Thursday. The 12:59 PM flight is comfortable but jumped to $489 this week — the 9:29 AM is still $419 and lands before 11. 9th–10th finish Saturday at 11:30 AM and can fly home Saturday afternoon. Showcase wrestlers go until 5:30 PM Saturday — give them Sunday morning.
Out Fri Oct 30 · home Sun evening · 2 nights
The biggest group and the cleanest trip. Weigh-in 7:00 PM Friday, wrestle Saturday and Sunday morning, done between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM Sunday. A Sunday evening flight works with room to spare.
Out Sat Oct 31 morning · home Mon Nov 2 · 2 nights
Weigh-in moved to Saturday early afternoon — 1:00 PM for 1st–2nd graders, 1:30 PM for 3rd–4th boys and the girls' divisions, credential pickup from 12:30. That makes the 9:29 AM Delta the only nonstop that works — it lands at 10:42 AM. The next one lands at 3:16 PM, after the window closes. Everything happens Sunday, and they finish late (6:00 PM, and 7:00 PM for 1st–2nd boys), so a Sunday night flight is a bad idea. Monday morning home, or drive.
Practices at CMP keep running while the team is in Iowa, so one coach stays home. That leaves two coaches for four separate arrival days, and they cannot be at the airport for all of them.
Two ways to solve it, and the first is cheaper than it sounds:
Name a responsible adult for each wave before anything gets booked. Not a coach necessarily, but a specific person. A wave with no named adult is the one that goes wrong.
Delta flies Atlanta to Des Moines nonstop in about 2 hours 10 minutes, four times a day. That's the whole reason this trip is easier than it looks — no connection, and DSM is 17 minutes from the venue.
Departures from ATL: 9:29 AM, 12:59 PM, 4:59 PM, 9:19 PM.
| Wave | Dates | Delta nonstop | Best connection |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — 11th–12th | Wed Oct 28 → Sat Oct 31 | $419 | $284 · Southwest via Chicago, 50-min layover |
| 2 — 9th–10th, Showcase | Thu Oct 29 → Sat Oct 31 | $419 | $303 · Southwest via Chicago, 50-min layover |
| 3 — Girls, 7th–8th, 5th–6th | Fri Oct 30 → Sun Nov 1 | $419 | $400 · Southwest via Chicago · no real saving |
| 4 — Youngest | Sat Oct 31 → Mon Nov 2 | $459 | $287 · Southwest via Chicago, 6:30 AM only |
Round trip, one adult, taxes and fees included, no checked bag. Re-checked Sep 14. Waves 1–3 are unchanged at $419 on every Delta departure, and the Wednesday 4:59 PM is back down to $419. Two things moved: the Thursday 12:59 PM is now $489 — take the 9:29 AM — and Saturday departures rose to $459, which also lifts a Wednesday-to-Monday coach ticket to $459. On Saturday Delta swaps the 12:59 PM for a 2:06 PM, which lands too late for the new weigh-in.
The cheap connections came back this week. Southwest through Chicago Midway is $284 on wave 1 and $303 on wave 2 — a morning departure, one 50-minute connection, landing before noon. That is $115 to $135 a seat under Delta, real money on twelve kids, but a 50-minute connection with a youth team and one missed bag is a different trip. Delta's price still barely moves across these dates, so there's no money in shifting the trip — pick the dates the schedule dictates, then decide whether the Midway saving is worth the connection risk.
For a group this size, call Delta group travel rather than booking seat by seat — 10 or more passengers on the same flight gets group pricing and, more usefully, held seats without full payment up front.
EventConnect is live: pre-negotiated group rates from $95 to $229 a night, and the feature that matters for four-to-a-room — you can create a block and share it with your team at no charge so everyone stays in one place.
That solves the coordination problem in one move. One person creates the block, families book into it, and the reservation numbers that come back are the registration codes.
| Hotel | Rate | Distance | Rooms left | Guests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Rewind, Tapestry by Hilton | $229 | 1.9 mi · 6 min | Sold out | 9.0 |
| Homewood Suites, WDM/SW Mall | $162 | 2.0 mi · 6 min | Only 1 · king studio | 8.6 |
| Hilton Garden Inn DSM West | $189 | 2.6 mi · 7 min | 7 left · two queens | 8.6 |
| SpringHill Suites DSM West | $134–$144 | 4.3 mi · 10 min | On request | 8.6 |
| Fairfield Inn & Suites DSM West | $139 | 4.6 mi · 12 min | On request | 9.0 |
| Country Inn & Suites, Radisson | $121 | 6.2 mi · 11 min | 4 left · one-bedroom suite · 2-night min | 8.8 |
| Sheraton West Des Moines | $159 | 6.3 mi · 11 min | On request | 8.2 |
The close hotels got thinner in a week. The Rewind sold out, Homewood is down to one king studio, and the SpringHill and both Fairfields only take requests now — a reply you can't afford to wait on. The Country Inn's $121 is a one-bedroom suite, not a two-queen room; its two-queen room is $149 and request-only. Hilton Garden Inn West still has seven two-queen rooms at $189 if seven minutes from the mat is worth the premium.
Ten to sixteen minutes out, and the inventory is real. For a team flying in this is arguably better than being close to the venue anyway.
| Hotel | Rate | Distance | Rooms left | Guests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hampton Inn Des Moines-Airport | $129 | 11.7 mi · 16 min | On request now · was 18 | 8.8 |
| TownePlace Suites Urbandale | $155 | 11.2 mi · 15 min | 17 left · two queens ($145 king, 14 left) | 8.6 |
| Fairfield Inn & Suites DSM Airport | $187 | 10.5 mi · 13 min | On request | 9.2 |
| Hilton Garden Inn DSM Airport | $197 | 10.6 mi · 14 min | 14 left · two queens | 9.0 |
| Sonesta Essential Des Moines | $95 | 13.3 mi · 17 min | 9 left · two queens · 2-night min | 7.4 |
The Hampton Inn Des Moines-Airport is still the pick: a Hilton property, 8.8, sixteen minutes from the mat, next to the airport the team flies into. But its 18 live rooms are gone — it's request-only now, so you're waiting on a reply.
Don't wait empty-handed. TownePlace Suites Urbandale has 17 two-queen studios at $155, bookable instantly, and EventConnect has a Hold Rooms button — hold what the team needs there today, send the Hampton request in parallel, and release whichever you don't use. Cancellation is free until Oct 25–26 at both.
Two things fell off the list since Sep 6. The Country Inn's $121 is a one-bedroom suite, not a room that sleeps four wrestlers — its two-queen room is $149 on request. And the $95 Sonesta is real and has nine two-queen rooms, but it rates 7.4 and carries a two-night minimum — a budget fallback, not the plan.
Two ways to go, and the gap between them is enormous. Four kids to a room is the default — a family travelling on its own pays roughly double per athlete.
Everything below is per person for a two-night trip, which covers waves 2 and 3. Waves 1 and 4 run a night longer or shorter — the hotel line is priced per night so it scales.
| Line | Low | High | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | $75 | $95 | Early with hotel code vs. the Oct 14 tier — the $65 flash price is gone |
| Flight, one seat | $419 | $459 | Delta nonstop — Saturday departures rose Sep 14 |
| Hotel, per night | $32 | $39 | Two-queen block rates, $129–$155, split four ways |
| Hotel, 2 nights + tax | $72 | $87 | Iowa lodging tax ≈12% |
| Ground | $40 | $72 | Share of the 15-passenger van — Sep 7 quote vs. today's public rate, below |
| Food, 2 days | $75 | $150 | |
| Per athlete | ≈ $681 | ≈ $863 | Before the coach share below |
| Line | Low | High | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | $75 | $95 | |
| Flights ×2 | $838 | $918 | The line that drives everything |
| Hotel, 2 nights + tax | $289 | $347 | Whole room at block rates |
| Ground | $70 | $200 | Rideshare vs. own rental |
| Food ×2, 2 days | $150 | $300 | |
| Pair total | ≈ $1,422 | ≈ $1,860 |
Travelling with the team saves a family roughly $740 to $1,000 per athlete. That is the single biggest lever on how many kids can actually go — bigger than the entry fee, bigger than the airfare, bigger than anything in the fundraising plan.
With one coach staying back to run practice at CMP, two travel and share a room. On a 12-athlete trip:
| Coach plan | Flights ×2 | Room + tax | Per athlete |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travel with one wave · 2 nights | $838 | $289–$347 | $94–$99 |
| Bridge the span · Wed–Sun, 4 nights | $838 | $578–$694 | $118–$128 |
| Bridge through Monday · 5 nights | $918 | $722–$868 | $137–$149 |
Keeping a coach home actually saves money — two coaches bridging the whole span cost the athletes $118–$128 each, less than three coaches travelling one wave. Covering every wave costs about $25 to $30 a kid more than covering one. That is a cheap way to have an adult meet every group.
So the honest all-in for a kid travelling with the team is roughly $800 to $990. Decide now whether the club absorbs the coach cost, adds it as a flat travel fee, or fundraises it — because if it isn't decided it ends up on Cliff's card, which is how it has gone before.
15-passenger Ford Transit Wagon out of DSM, Emerald Reserve rate, Wed Oct 28 noon to Sat Oct 31 noon:
| Rental window | Est. total | Per athlete ÷12 |
|---|---|---|
| Wed – Sat · 3 days · Sep 7 quote | $474.71 | $40 |
| Wed – Sun · 4 days · at the quoted rate | ≈ $633 | ≈ $53 |
| Wed – Sun · 4 days · Enterprise public rate, Sep 14 | $862.29 | $72 |
| Wed – Mon · 5 days · at the quoted rate | ≈ $791 | ≈ $66 |
Re-checked Sep 14: Enterprise's public rate for the same van out of DSM is now $175.44 a day — $862.29 for Wed–Sun, about $216 a day all in. The Sep 7 quote came through the Emerald Reserve rate at $140.66 a day, so it may still hold on that account. Re-pull it this week and extend it to Sunday in the same call — the gap is roughly $20 an athlete and it only widens closer to the date.
The quote ends Saturday at noon, but the trip doesn't. Wave 4 lands Saturday at 10:42 AM for a 1:00 PM weigh-in, and waves 3 and 4 fly home Sunday and Monday. Returning the van Saturday midday means no ride for the youngest kids on either end.
Extend it to Sunday at minimum, Monday if the 1st–2nd graders are going — they don't finish until 7:00 PM Sunday. The extra day or two is $158 apiece at the quoted rate — $216 at today's public rate — roughly $13 to $36 more per athlete.
One other thing: the mileage terms were cut off on the quote. Confirm unlimited before booking — the venue is only 12.3 miles from the airport, but four airport runs plus daily shuttling adds up faster than it looks.
The service-hours program has a real target now. A kid earning their way to this trip needs roughly $800 to $990, not the $1,400-plus a solo family trip costs.
At the hourly model Lydia suggested, that is a number a high schooler can actually reach helping in the youth room over a few weeks. Set the conversion rate against $900 and it works.
Everything below has to happen before Tuesday Sep 29 at 7:00 PM ET. After that the price goes to $95 for everyone and the near-venue rooms are likely gone.
